Liquid Green Stuff

I had a chance to help a friend with his dark Eldar this week. He had bought some liquid green stuff because he converted a few parts, and was building a lot of fine cast models. Since I originally posted partial anger to this product, I thought I would write a review for all of you on what I thought.

I have worked with Green stuff, Grey stuff, and any other color of stuff you might imagine. my first impressions of green stuff was like over processed taffy. and had a almost candy like scent to it. I used a standard GW brush to apply the green stuff to a model, it easily filled in the gap and almost smoothed out on it's own. I was actually quite surprised with how easy it was to apply the new liquid. The only thing that surprised me more was how smooth it started to set. once we let it set for a bit we where able to shape it a little bit (something not recomended for the beginner stick to regular green stuff for most of this) and once agian it worked well. The one thing that really set out in my mind was how smooth it set. I think since it didn't require being folded together, or kneaded between our fingers. Then it was brushed on versus shaped into place really made a difference in how smooth it came out. once it had set we primed the model, it looked fantastic. You couldnt tell where the green stuff was.

In conclusion, while I still question Games Workshops reason for realising this product right now. I think it is a great product. I am definitely purchasing a bottle to add to my hobby supplies. Thank you Games Workshop for another magnificent product.

More Salty Necron rumors

Thank you Day2Dan at herasyonline for this information.

Please remember to take all rumors with a healthy dose of salt.

Okay, so I sent an email to the What's New Today staff regarding getting some information on the Necron release. Here's what I got back - nothing spectacular, but it does sound like the release isn't extremely far off.

As you’ve probably guessed by now, I can’t really tell you a huge amount about Necrons because there isn’t a huge amount to say. When an army hasn’t been updated for a while, rumours will often start to circulate that the army is being remade. Sometimes this is correct, sometimes it isn’t. What I will say is that Codex Necrons has been removed from the website for some time now, which is a good indicator that something is being done with them.

My advice: If you buy any of the Necron plastic kits you’ll be fine – they will not be changing. Hopefully that will be enough to put your mind at rest for now. Otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer. But, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. ;)

Dan

I think as we creep closer to the last week of October, we are going to see more of these kind of posts. While they don't confirm or deny anything. They do help spin the rumor mill. These should all be taken with a healthy dose of salt. I suggest almost ignoring these posts for the next few weeks as i'm sure we will be slammed with false ones. If Games Workshop is holding true to its new 2 week policy, then we have till the week of the 24th and we should hear something.

Review of Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons

OK so bare with me. This is my first book report in at least 10 years.

Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons revolves around a group of strangers who must all survive after a mining operation uncovers and activates a Necron Tomb. They are quickly joined by the Death Korps of Krieg to try and stop the Necrons from taking over the planet. This book was very well thought out, you tend to care about all the main characters, making deaths all the more painful to read when they happen. Watching Gunthar turn from a lazy administrator who complained about having to use the lifts to go to the mines. into a hard core Death corp soldier was exciting. The Necrons are depicted in great form, I like the description of the Scarab Swarms through out the book. The battles drag you in and make you feel like you are standing there instead of reading it. The Necron lord rightfully puts fear, and awe in you making you feel this planets war is lost before it begins. The Death Corps are brutal their emotionless tactics, and bravery to the point of stupidity really makes them a good choice to fight the Necrons.

While not the best written book, I would recomend it to anyone who enjoys the 40K universe Particularly fans of Necrons or Imperial guard. This is a fine addition to the Imperial Guard series of books.

Imperial emplacement, and Tantalus for sale on Forge world

Sorry, I have been kind of neglecting my blog over the last few days. The Star Wars beta has eaten my life lol.
I'm not sure how long these have been up for purchase on Forge world, but both are up for sale. I really like both items the Tantalos reminds me of a evil catamaran, and holds very true to the beautiful and deadly look of the Dark Eldar. The Imperial emplacement adds that layer of beauty to a table. The imperial guard are soldiers, basic humans who use a lot of World War 1 style tactics, such as trenches. So i become excited every time I see a beautiful terrain piece like this, it makes me want to build a trench themed table.

Armor cast muzzle flashes

I haven't went to Armor cast's website in a very long time. Back in the day, they were the only option for cool terrain. I saw these Muzzle flashes on their site and thought they were real cool. They have differnt sizes and designs. Even one that shows the bullet coming out of the barrel. Please go to the link below if interested if you are interested.

Activision is silent?

Well I've reported that EA is directly taking shots at Activision, and Call of Duty. The surprising thing is Activision hasn't shot back. Could this be Activision being the better man? Or are they waiting for Battlefield 3 to be released before they fight back? Either way an epic battle of First Person Shooters is about to occur, and you can smell the napalm starting to heat up as fans from both camps prepare to wage war, and I cant wait.

a review of the Dread Fleet!!!!

While I personally haven't picked up a copy "and probably wont" a friend of mine did, and we played a few rounds the other day. Here is my review on how I felt about the game.

from opening the box, I knew Games Workshop had included everything needed to play this game as a stand alone game. The number of models, and other items in the box was massive. We quickly set up and read the rules. I would say by our third or forth game there was no stumbling or checking the rules for the most part. We understood the directions, and what to do pretty quickly. Being the High Elf loving prissy he is he forced me to be the Noctulis fleet. I really enjoyed playing them I loved the Chaos Dwarf mechanical squid sub, and tried to lay traps around its speed and abilities. Over all we had a great time, and while he wishes to remain Anonymous. I thank him for the opportunity to play.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the game. I thought it would take us all day to play one game, instead we played 6 total. The items and models in the box are great, my friend had no missing parts or damaged models. I would say if you can this game is worth a buy.
